No, the self driving car will not kill the car enthusiast.

I recently sat on my couch reading an article about Googles newest self driving car. I then proceeded to the comments where it consisted of this THE SELF DRIVING CAR WILL KILL THE CAR ENTHUSIAST, WE MUST STOP THEM!! ! or, Work from home today I have done it for ten months and just bought a new gtr With the account name of 3334xyz or something.

But I had a thought about the self driving car killing the car enthusiast. The self driving car will not kill the car enthusiast. That’s right I don’t believe that the self driving cars will kill the enthusiast.. Car enthusiasts evolve just like cars. Cars evolve for example, the 1988 iroc-z was state of the art back then. But the 2017 Camaro . I would never dare take an iroc-z on the back roads by my house or up on a trip in the mountains. But I would have no problem taking the 2017 Camaro on the back roads or trip. Also enthusiasts in the 1980s would have shunned the tech in the 2017 Camaro such as launch control, gps,.

But the enthusiast has evolved to love this tech, tune this tech and drive it. Electric cars such as the Tesla model s have evolved so much from the 1994 ev1. But enthusiasts in 1994 thought electric cars would kill the car enthusiast. Now electric cars are some of the best driving machines out there such as the laferrari and tesla.

By the time that self driving cars come around to be sold mainstream Im sure that there will be enthusiast ones, that have engaging driving experiences, and modes that have modes where you can drive. Performance cars with self driving modes will rise and enthusiasts will evolve to love them. Maybe even a , diesel, shooting brake with self driving mode.(I personally think that self driving cars are scary but will get better over time, but until then we can stick to the extra fun stuff that we drive.

I’m kind of hoping we get to a point where anyone that does not want to pass an extremely difficult drivers test, has to drive a “self driving car”.

To be honest, I think it’ll make it better for enthusiasts because those that either won’t pay attention to driving or don’t have any interest in driving will benefit from autonomous cars, hopefully making their behavior more predictable then those types of drivers who really are not so good on the road. However, if autonomous vehicles get to a point where it’s illegal or somehow detrimental to drive the vehicle yourself, then the driving enthusiast will become endangered.

Also, it's never the person/bot who posted the comment who made $9682 dollars in a week, it's always their sister or mother or some other relative.

What may be at issue is the environment that suites a self driving car.

If you look at the vision some have (there’s a certain Gawker crackpot I’m thinking of), the ideal environment for a self driving car is one in which it is the only option. No manual driving allowed, to insure safety and efficiency.

Of course without that, the path to a fully autonomous car is more difficult, because not being able to communicate with every other vehicle adds a significant road block.

Here’s my prediction for future of cars and autonomous cars. I think the fully autonomous cars like the Google car with no steering wheel will be primarily utilized in urban and the immediate sub-urban areas in an Uber-like system where you don’t own the car and just use an app to request a ride.

Then I think we’ll still have regular cars but with many new cars having semi-autonomous or autopilot features like the one Tesla is testing. These cars will still be driven by a person most of time until they get on the interstate or major highways where the autopilot can be engaged so that you don’t have to keep full attention on the road during long commutes or trips. Perhaps there will be an autopilot only lane where the cars form into tight packs like a high-speed road train.

And we still will be free to drive our weird old cars and bikes as we please
